titleOverview

This page is intended to guide the user through the steps required to mount an F2 and F3 reader.

The mounting kits vary, dependent upon mounting style and position. The different mounting types are outlined below:

  • Front Mount: This refers to the machine face on which the reader is mounted.  It is intended to be used for standard height front-mounting on most equipment.
  • High Mount: This is similar to the front mount in that the card swipe is oriented vertically, but it requires the top mount kit to angle the screen correctly for customer use.
  • Top Mount:  This refers to the machine face on which the reader is mounted.  It is intended to be used for standard height top mounting of the reader.

  1. Select a mounting position on the front face of the machine.
    1. Mounting position should consider proximity to coin drop (if applicable) and length of installation harnesses.
    2. Mount in a location that will not expose wiring to excessive heat or friction.
  2. Mark mounting position using C-6700-TEMP.
    1. Hole "C" is the pilot position for the chase nipple / primary mounting point.
    2. Holes "D" and "E" are positioned for optional use to ensure minimal "play" on card reader bracket position.
  3. Drill a 1-1/8" using a hole saw.
    1. Use caution to avoid damaging anything behind the face plate.
    2. Technical Support recommends drilling a pilot hole for stainless steel machines.
    3. Technical Support also recommends use of cutting oil on appropriate surfaces.

  1. Align the center hole of the C-5414 mounting bracket to the newly drilled hole on the machine face.
  2. Slip the C-5702 chase nipple through the hole and secure with the C-5703 locknut.
    1. Tighten the chase nipple to prevent the bracket from rotating.
    2. Screws may be inserted through the smaller holes provided on the bracket and secured to the mounting face, if desired.

titleSTEP 1:  Marking and Cutting the Mounting Area

  1. Select location towards the top of machine to mount the card reader.  It's recommended that you mount the card reader as close to the coin drop as possible.
  2. Place (C-6700-TEMP) template on the front of the machine with strait edge of the template aligned with the top of machine, parallel with the edge.
    1. Align template center with center of coin drop.
    2. Template should be approximately 3/4" from the edge of machine. (This is a suggestion, installer discretion)
  3. Using sharpie marker, mark the target drill location for the reader base, use hole C.
  4. Using a 9/64" drill bit, drill a 1-1/8" hole through the machine facing.

  5. The center large hole is where the harnesses will be pulled through and attached to the reader.  Follow the instructions below in the next section.

titleStep 2 Detach the Base from the Reader

  1. You'll need to remove the back of the reader for these next steps.
  2. Remove the screws from the top of the reader to detach the base.
  3. Set the screws aside as they will be needed later in the process to reattach the reader.

titleSTEP 3 Connecting the Harnesses

  1. You need to access the inside of the machine for this step.
  2. Once you're able to access the machine's internal wiring, thread the harnesses through the locknut (C-5703) on the inside of the machine.

  3. Thread the wires through the drilled center hole.

  4. On the outside of the machine, thread the harnesses through the F2 Reader base first, then the chase nipple.

  5. Attach the base to the machine by tightening the chase nipple to the locknut on the inside of the machine.

  6. Attach the harnesses to the reader.
  7. Using the screws that were previously set aside, reattach the base to the reader.

  8. You've completed the F2 Reader High Front-Mount Installation.
