Customers swipe their loyalty card on multiple readers to start machines simultaneously. 

Subject Details

A Loyalty Customer used to be able to swipe their Loyalty Card on multiple readers at the same time and their accounts appeared on the machines at the same time.  The user can easily press the enter button simultaneously on multiple machines and these machines will authorize the purchase even if there is not enough balance available to cover all the transactions. This makes it so that a customer can overdraft a loyalty account. 

Solution

This bug has been fixed as of FasCard Release 20. The currently expected functionality of when a customer wants to start two or more machines is outlined below. 

Scenario 1:

  • If insufficient funds for both machines

  • And, reader #1 is swiped, then reader #2 is swiped.

  • Reader #2 will start if the card has sufficient funds to cover that price because it was swiped last and identified as the currently active machine.

  • Once funds are added, a re-swipe is required for reader #1 to start. 

Scenario 2:

  • If insufficient funds to cover any cost of the machines.

  • And, reader #1 is swiped, then reader #2 is swiped.

  • Once funds are added, reader #2 will again start because it was swiped last and identified as the currently active machine.

  • Once funds are added, a re-swipe is required for reader #1 to start. 

Specifically, FasSat version 1.20.07 or greater is required to eliminate this problem from occurring.
