Cable Testing

This step ensures that the cabling throughout the location is fully connected and all X-Changers are powered up and running, this will allow the store to tolerate levels of failure without loss of functionality.  By intentionally disconnecting specific cables other disconnects will be exposed to allow for remedy action prior to system live date.

  1. Verify that all card readers are displaying proper vend price

  2. Using a card with sufficient balance, confirm that machines successfully start on each card reader line

  3. Determine which X-Changer is running in 'Master Mode' for the card readers AKA 'WCRD'.

  4. Insert Manager Card

  5. Choose Store Status.

  6. In the lower half of the screen in the Card Reader Line Status section as highlighted the system reports which X-Changer system is running in Master Mode.

  7. Go to the 'Backup Mode' X-Changer as identified in the Store Status screen and disconnect the card reader lines 0 - 4, and the 15 Pin Cross Over Cable labeled 'To Other Value Station'.

  8. Confirm that all card readers have power and are displaying vend price

  9. Using a card with sufficient balance, confirm that machines successfully start on each card reader line

  10. Reconnect ONLY the 'To Other Value Center' 15-Pin cable

  11. Restart the computer for the X-Changer in Master Mode as identified in the Card Reader Status section from step 4, this will force the backup X-Changer to take over the Primary Mode for the card readers.  The card readers may not start showing a vend price until the reboot is 100% complete.

  12. Verify the the opposite X-Changer is now running in 'Master Mode'

  13. Using a card with sufficient balance, confirm that machines successfully start on each card reader line

  14. Reconnect lines 0 - 4 on the Master Mode X-Changer, and repeat steps 3 through 11 for the other X-Changer.

  15. Once all configurations of lines and 'To Other Value Station' cable combination have been completed successfully, ensure that all cables are reconnected in their original position.
